Legends & Lore

Anyone growing up in the 80s should remember that it was the dawn of the age of computers, but it was well before the influencers of our daily lives like the internet, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

It was a time for playing with Action Figures, watching cartoons on a tube screen TV on a Saturday Morning or afternoon and you had to get up and change channels by turning a dial not a pressing button on a remote control.

But those cartoons provided the fondest memories… from G1 Transformers or M.A.S.K, to Battle of the Planets.

It was also a time when neon really took to the mainstream in bold vivid pinks, blues, oranges, when funky electronic pop music provided the soundtrack to synth wave culture. It's a time that holds a special place for many.

As a child of the 80’s its no wonder that when Chris Busuttil started the Legends & Lore YouTube channel in early 2020 that the theme was born from that 80’s experience.

The guys love Warhammer 40,000 just as much as the 80’s neon vibe that their videos have. Each week a new Battle from the 41st millennium drops in the form of Monday Night War (MNW). The channel’s signature program's intro is like a huge flash back to that child sitting in front of the tele watching their favourite cartoon - instead we flash forward to now and it’s watching our favourite Miniature tabletop wargame - cast on the big screen or on a computer screen bigger than any 80’s TV.

Meta-Tron, the L&L mascot, rolls dice at the beginning like Skeletor's evil laugh at the beginning of every episode of He-Man. Each army in the game is represented in Pink or Blue Neon.

Since its inception, Legends & Lore has featured the who's who of Australian wargaming. From the gaming elite to personally inviting prolific hobbyists for a game and a chat. Its an immersive experience that hits not just that spot for today, but also brings with it those childhood feelings of joy.

Chris and the guys have always been big supporters of Arc40k, not only by their participation in the event, but also showcasing missions, and this year we leaked our first mission for the year through them when Ben (Arc40k TO, and mission guru) took his Ork army down for a Battle with Chris McKenna and the Legends & Lore Studio Marine army.

The future looks big for the guys, their is more MNW Battle Reports on the way each week, as well as their not to be missed first foray into Live Streaming @ Arc40k in early March 2023.

Next time you’re doing some hobby with YouTube open checking out a painting tutorial, why not tune in to an episode of Monday Night War.

Let the Legends & Lore guys inspire you on the battlefield and spur on your painting.
