The Guild's Inn is a brand-new miniature painting event weekend hosted by the Sydney Display Painters Guild. It will be a whole weekend dedicated to hobby activities, organised jam sessions, fun speed painting comps and social hangouts.
The event will also host the brand new Guild's Inn National Competition, with entries to be submitted and judged over the weekend.
The Guild's Inn is a not-for-profit event focussed on the miniature painting community coming together.
ArcOpen followers will be familiar with one of the event organisers, People’s Choice Award winner, Jared Clifford. We spoke to Jared about this new event and the Guild.
,
‘The Sydney Display Painter’s Guild meet regularly to paint together and share a common passion for Miniature Display Painting.
‘Each meeting is a time for socializing and sharing. Painting together in a group is a great motivator for our members - we can aspire to be like other painters, share knowledge and techniques - I’m always inspired by the amazing work that you can see being created during a Guild meeting,’ Jared said.
‘However, as a community we are spread far and wide across Australia and have too few chances to meet,’ Jared explained. ‘The Guild has been keen to get involved in changing that and sharing the experience we have at the Guild with the wider community’
This year has seen some of that already changing - with Crimson Brush returning with a record field. in Canberra as part of Cancon in January - and ArcOpen in Melbourne held in March alongside Arc40k.
‘We’ve been planning to add an event to the calendar and have been working hard to make that a reality,’ Jared explained.
‘So the goal of our Guild’s Inn Weekend is to create a fun and worthwhile opportunity to connect with each other in person.
‘We can share our work through the Guide’s Inn National Painting Competition,’ said Jared. ‘ But I hope that the format of the weekend will mean there’s also opportunities for everyone to talk about what we love and enjoy the social side of miniature painting.
The 2023 Guild's Inn will be held on July 28-30 at the regular Sydney Display Painters Guild meeting place in Artarmon in Northern Sydney.
It's a completely private venue in a fully-equipped, comfortable office space, and we'll have the whole place to ourselves.
‘Everyone is welcome to attend for all or part of the fun, and we will do our best to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for all our visitors,’ Jared said.
‘We look forward to seeing you all at the inaugural Guild's Inn!’
As the Guild firm up and finalise all the details we’ll make sure we share them with more articles for their exciting event here at Arc40k.com.
