ArcOpen Returns in 2024

The team are thrilled to announce the return of the ArcOpen Painting Challenge for its second year!

Following the immense success of the inaugural event, we are excited to continue celebrating and supporting the art of painting fantasy and futuristic miniatures by coming back to do it all again in 2024.

With a new category and plans set to facilitate more opportunities for interaction across the community, ArcOpen 2024 promises to be a captivating experience for hobby enthusiasts and artists alike - we hope to create a festival of Miniature Display Painting.

Last year, ArcOpen was launched as a platform to bring together individuals who share a passion for painting.

While Arc40k weekends have always embraced the significance of miniature painting, ArcOpen was designed to expand the boundaries. We saw it as a unique avenue for artists to engage with the broadest hobby community and showcase their artistic prowess.

Our approach to the competition is centered around creating an objective-based challenge rather than a subjective painting competition.

The ArcOpen Challenge is all about inspiring and motivating participants to continually improve their craft and invest in presenting their very best work. Instead of competing for specific rankings, we recognize the attainment of quality and effort in each submission.

In line with our commitment to recognizing excellence, the judging process at ArcOpen is dedicated to assessing achievement, grading the standard of work, and awarding Gold, Silver, and Bronze level accolades.

As a reflection of the dedication to painting mastery, there is no limit to the number of awards that can be bestowed upon deserving artists.

To ensure everyone has enough time to plan and prepare we are getting the categories for 2024 locked in sooner rather than later.

So we are taking the opportunity to grow the event by introducing a brand-new category - Open Display.

The category is designed to accommodate larger and more complex projects, providing artists with a platform to showcase their artistic vision and storytelling abilities on a grander scale. It will include all dioramas, displays and duels. If you've any number of models interacting to tell your story then this is the category for you.

The ArcOpen categories from last year return for 2024: Single Miniature, Unit, and Large Figure.

We aim for these categories to cater to painters of all skill levels, offering a range of challenges that encourage participants to explore the depth of their hobby craft.

The official ArcOpen 2024 Categories are as follows:

Single Miniature

Unit

Larger Figure - Character/Monster/Vehicle

Open Display - including Diorama/Duel

As the excitement builds for the 2024 event season - Kicking off in Canberra in January with Crimson Brush - we encourage all participants to start planning, preparing, and painting for this upcoming exciting year.

Stay tuned for more information about the event dates, registration process, and our thrilling activities program, all designed to immerse participants in a weekend celebrating the art of miniature painting.

Get ready to showcase your artistic brilliance at ArcOpen 2024!
