Addikted to Ink - ArcOpen Major Sponsor

Addicted to Ink have stepped up in their support and involvement in the Australian Wargaming and Creative community to become the Major Supporter of ArcOpen at Arcfest in 2024.

Mitch, CEO and founder of Addikted to Ink, has gone all in on miniature painting. You could say he’s become addicted to another artistic endevour - and we must say ArcOpen is thankful of his involvement and support - more of that in a moment…

Suffice to say that Mitch has created some high profile friends in the online miniature painting community - Emil and Lukas from Squidmar Miniatures.

And thanks to some conversations with them starting at last year’s Arc40k event, he recently headed overseas to become part of a learn to paint youtube extravaganza.

It’s an exciting challenge - take an relatively new painter and teaching them everything they need to know in the space of less than a week. Getting them to the point where they will be ready to enter their first miniature painting event!

To say Mitch is pumped for painting is an understatement. But as a result of his recent experience he’s be active in supporting and seeing miniature painting scene here in Australia to grow - and one way of doing that is to help secure the future of ArcOpen.

So here’s were we all cheer and give thanks for a very generous offer of support that the organisers of ArcFest have humbly accepted.

A huge part of the support Mitch and Addikted it Ink brings to ArcOpen comes in the way of a Prize for the Best of Show Prize - an amazing $500 cash prize going to the winner.

Suffice to say that our judges will be joined by Mitch to help choose between all our Gold Medal achievers to select the prestigious Best of Show entry. It’s our way of showing a connection between Lukas and Emil who along with Victoria Lamb were last year’s judges for ArcOpen.

Fresh from his intensive experience Mitch will is keen to join this year’s team - plus he’s going to be handing over the Addikted to Ink prize as part of the Awards Ceremony. Getting to talk to the judges as part of the process is of major importance for him as is awarding that prize to the very best entry at ArcOpen!

So, if you’ve not yet got a ticket to participate in ArcOpen - now’s the time to make that commitment and sign up.

People’s Choice Winner 2023 - Jared Clifford

Finally there will be a considerable ongoing resources being added to help present every model entered in ArcOpen to be safely and securely displayed in their best light. The team are now looking to source that equipment which will be used not just this year but in year’s to come as a dedicated resource for the ArcOpen event. This in itself is an amazing philanthropic gesture by Addikted to Ink and one that the team are keen to ensure we get right.

So, as we finalize what resources we are able to secure thank’s to Mitch and Addikted to ink then we’ll be keen to show everyone what that looks like as we unveil the ArcOpen space on Saturday 27 April.

A Partnership redefining creativity

The heart of this partnership lies in the harmonious interplay of creativity and imagination. Tattoo artists, known for their flair in transforming stories into timeless masterpieces, have taken on the challenge of crafting exclusive designs inspired by popular wargaming factions and heroes. Each tattoo tells a tale, embodying the essence of the gaming universe, and giving gamers a unique opportunity to wear their passion on their sleeves - quite literally!

The art of tattooing has evolved into a captivating canvas for personal expression, which has always intersected with the immersive realm of wargaming. The wargaming world is replete with captivating stories, legendary heroes, and mythical creatures that have captured the hearts of countless players. As players immerse themselves in the strategic battles and imaginative landscapes of their chosen games, a deep connection forms between them and the game's characters and lore.

Enthusiastic players are turning to their favourite games as a wellspring of inspiration for their tattoos, weaving the tales and characters they hold dear into indelible works of art on their skin.

The Confluence of Craftsmanship

Addikted to Ink

Tattoo artists have embraced the challenge of translating the intricate details and narratives of wargaming imagery onto human skin. The result is an exquisite marriage of two art forms - the masterful craftsmanship of tattooing intertwined with the creative storytelling of wargaming.

These tattoos are more than just ink; they're a living testament to the passion and dedication players have for their favourite games. Every stroke of the tattoo artist's needle captures the essence of a character's personality or the grandeur of a sweeping battlefield, creating a vibrant tapestry that resonates with the player's own story.

Beyond Skin Deep

Wargaming-inspired tattoos go beyond mere adornment; they hold deep personal significance for the players who wear them. Each tattoo carries a unique narrative - a reminder of a hard-fought victory, a tribute to a favourite faction, or a tribute to the camaraderie of fellow players.

Moreover, these tattoos can spark conversations, forming bonds between players who recognize and share the same passion for the game.

They serve as a visual language, a secret code that invites like-minded individuals to connect and share their experiences.

As wargaming imagery finds a permanent home on the skin of dedicated players, it bridges the gap between the virtual and the tangible, creating an enduring connection that transcends the tabletop.

This unique fusion of creativity is a testament to the power of human expression, where the tales of virtual heroes become etched into the stories of our own lives.
